Project experience

• Represented a major player in the mining and hydrometallurgy industry in a dispute with a Russian bank that involved multiple jurisdictions. We provided legal support for the dispute in Russia and coordinated actions in UK (LCIA), Armenia, and Cyprus courts. We developed a strategy that led to a settlement agreement worth over
  RUB 38 billion.
• Represented the official dealer of a major Chinese bus manufacturer in disputes with Russian regulators. We secured an out-of-court settlement, which allowed the client to continue operations in Russia.
• Handled the troubled debts of Asian state insurance corporations in Russia, including insolvency cases and out-of-court settlements.
• Represented our clients in court proceedings in the UAE regarding breaches of a residential property construction contract by a developer. We ensured the recovery of funds, penalties, and interest amounting to RUB 1 billion.
• Represented the owner of an oil company in the conversion of a debt to a state-owned bank and stock listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The case involved legal proceedings in Russia, Cyprus, and England.
• Provided legal support and structured the process for a cross- border acquisition of high-tech telecom assets, including advice on intellectual property, customs, and tax regulations in Russia and China.
• Provided full-service support for an international film project. We ensured proper contractual relationships with investors, co-producers, and sponsors, as well as secured rights to intellectual property. We took charge of the group's liquidation after the completion of the project. The total project cost tallied over RUB 2 billion.
• Provided legal assistance to an architectural firm in opening branches across the European Union. We created and implemented a strategy that met the requirements of labor, tax, and currency laws, enabling the client to conduct business across multiple jurisdictions.
• Represented a Russian bank in court proceedings in Portugal regarding the foreclosure of pledged land plots. This included the development and execution of a settlement agreement for over EUR 4 million.
• Developed an investment arbitration strategy based on the Bilateral Investment Protection Agreement between China and Tajikistan and the Energy Charter Treaty. The strategy was aimed at representing a Hong Kong coal mining company with assets seized in Tajikistan due to unlawful taxation.
• Provided comprehensive support for structuring the Russian operations of a major European publishing group, addressing corporate, labor, migration, and sanctions issues, and intangible asset transfers. We created an exit strategy for the client's withdrawal from the Russian market.
• Provided legal support for the establishment of an international startup by a client. We assisted in setting up corporate relationships during the incorporation process. Later, we resolved disputes that arose due to economic sanctions, applying EU and Singapore law. We represented an internet company in financial crime matters in a European country, working closely with the national attorney general's office and helping organize court proceedings.
• Represented a major Russian retail chain in a dispute with Chinese suppliers over damages for supply of substandard goods, providing legal counsel, legalizing the decision in a Chinese court, and enforcing it in China.
• Represented a shareholder of a Russian diversified holding company in asserting corporate rights associated with assets held in Singapore, Cyprus, and the British Virgin Islands in the context of a corporate conflict.
• Advised several major Chinese construction companies on entering the Russian market and participating in Russian construction and infrastructure projects.
